Before putting the diaphragm in your vagina, put about 1 teaspoon of spermicidal gel or cream in the bowl (see picture below). Smearsome more gel around the edge of the diaphragm. Do not useVaseline or oil-based vaginal creams (such as Monistat). These canmake tiny holes in the membrane.
